Quote

In short

A quote is a written offer to a buyer setting out what the company would supply, at what price and on what terms.

What does Quote mean?

A quote is not an invoice: it creates no obligation to pay and is not reported to the tax authority. It is worth giving it a validity period.

An accepted quote typically becomes an order and then an invoice; when the quote's lines match the invoice's, there is less manual work and fewer mistakes.

Why does it matter to a small business?

For a small business the quote is often the customer's first serious encounter with the company: if it is quick, accurate and clear, that alone persuades. With quotes in one place you see which ones await an answer and when they expire, so you can follow up in time. An accepted quote becomes an invoice without retyping.

What does it look like in practice?

Details

Suppose a tiler in Zalaegerszeg quotes for a bathroom renovation: materials, labour and delivery, valid for thirty days. The customer gets it as a link and asks for one line to change, so the tiler sends a new version and the earlier one is kept. The customer accepts, and the tiler makes a draft invoice with the same lines in one click.

How does HelloCRM handle it?

Details

HelloCRM's Quotes module sends the quote as a link; the buyer accepts it there, and an accepted quote becomes a draft invoice in one click (with the Invoicing module). A revision is a new version and does not overwrite the earlier one, and quote and invoice totals are computed the same way, rounded per line, so the two agree.

Module: Quotes (paid module, price coming soon).
