Self-hosting

In short

With self-hosting the software runs on the company's own or rented server, so the data stays under the company's control.

What does Self-hosting mean?

It is chosen when data must stay in-house for regulatory or internal reasons. Updates, backups and monitoring then fall to the company (or someone it hires).

What matters is whether the self-hosted version does the same as the cloud one.

Your own server is not automatically safer: security depends on who updates the system, who watches it and whether there is a tested backup. If nobody in-house or hired can do that, the cloud version is often the smaller risk.

Why does it matter to a small business?

In some companies customer data has to stay in-house, because of a contract, an internal policy or a customer's request. Then your own server is what makes using a CRM possible at all. A small business needs this less often, but it is worth knowing the option exists and what it involves.

What does it look like in practice?

Details

Suppose an accounting office in Budapest has clients who ask for their data to stay on the office's own server. The office's IT partner installs the system and makes sure the backup includes the database and the uploaded files together. Colleagues use the same interface as in the cloud version.

How does HelloCRM handle it?

Details

HelloCRM's self-hosted plan is the same system on your server, quoted per installation. Updates, backups and monitoring then fall to you or someone you hire, and the backup must include the database and the uploaded files together, because they refer to each other.
