Email bounce
An email bounce is a message the recipient's mail server did not deliver, and sent an error notice back to the sender about it.

What does Email bounce mean?
There are two kinds of bounce. A hard bounce is permanent: the address does not exist, was mistyped or has been closed. A soft bounce is temporary: the mailbox is full, the server is unavailable for now, or the message is too large.
A hard-bounced address must not be mailed again. When a sender keeps writing to addresses that do not exist, mail providers grow more suspicious of it, and its mail to good addresses can end up in spam too.
Why does it matter to a small business?
A small company's newsletter list builds up over years and holds many old work addresses and typos. If every campaign goes to them again, deliverability slowly gets worse, with no obvious sign of it. Retiring bounced addresses protects the sender's reputation, so real customers keep receiving the mail.
What does it look like in practice?
Details
Suppose a flower shop in Szombathely sends a spring newsletter to 800 addresses. Thirty hard-bounce because the buyers have changed jobs since, and five soft-bounce because their mailboxes are full. The thirty are left out of the next campaign, while the five receive mail again next time.
How does HelloCRM handle it?
Details
HelloCRM retires a hard-bounced address, and campaigns and automations no longer send to it. A soft bounce does not retire the address, because it may work again tomorrow.
